Innovation Strategy

Fujitsu asked us to help define their laptop design strategy for the coming years. Alongside Fujitsu’s design team, we held multiple workshops in our Amsterdam based design studio, where we developed several concepts.

Challenge

 

Fujitsu’s wanted a clear project vision for their laptop. They were looking for opportunities to add value in terms of new features, design aesthetic and engineering solutions. 

Approach

 

We analysed future use-cases and other opportunities for innovation. Brainstorm sessions, sketching and foam prototypes helped us develop a variety of promising concepts to explore in more detail. 

Result

 

Using output from our design workshops, we developed several final concepts. They were used internally to validate their market potential.

Early Laptop Concept

Concept 1

In order to obtain an ultra-thin laptop, a separate device is used to allow for extra connectors, cable management, big speakers and a CD-rom. We also added wireless charging and a clock function.

Concept 2

It’s possible to store the laptop on the dock vertically to save valuable desk space when not in use.

The dock also has built-in bluetooth speaker that can be synced with any device.
