In Dutch SLIM means Bright | Clever | Smart and Intelligent.
We design intelligent IoT products and smart mechanics and do this with a lean integrated development process and minimal overhead. Our aim is to simplify the product we design to its bare essentials, create meaningful projects and we strive to push the boundaries in design and technology.
We see ourselves as an external development department for our clients. And by making sure we create real added value, we build long relationships. We are happy with the design and innovation awards but for us the clients appreciation of our work is key.
“They are designers of high ability, strong in concept, detail and manufacturing design.”
“Out of the box creative designers! Able to strip away all what is unneeded and keep the essential.
I highly recommend them for any product development projects.”
Senior Event Production Specialist
“Working with SLIMDESIGN was a great experience. The final design is beautiful and sophisticated and their engineering expertise was a great benefit. The two intensive and fruitful workshops in Amsterdam helped to create a clear project vision.”
Senior Design Consultant
“Great team to work with: hands on, pro-active and flexible. The quality of their work is outstanding, always on time and within budget. We expect that they will help a lot of other start-ups (like us) to become a success.”

In the center of Amsterdam,
10 min walk from Central Station, on the waterfront and next to Pakhuis de Zwijger.
The area is known as a creative hot spot with a lot of:
– Designers and Artists
– Startups like Wetransfer
– Branding and Advertising
– Cultural Companies
– Galleries and Shops
– Cafe / Bar / Restaurants
And it is the location of Sail, a gathering of the tallest sailing boats of the world.
The SLIMDESIGN design team specializes in Design, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Complex projects (like IoT) need experts from a large variety of disciplines. For each project we built a core team that remains with the project from start to finish and use an integrated process where all aspects (Design, ME and EE) are developed simultaneously. In this way there is fluid communication, no loss of information and late changes are easier to handle. For the other disciplines we have selected partners that have similar flexibility and drive for perfection. This way we are flexible and can make sure we work with the best experts in their field.
Stijn finished his masters degree Integrated Product Design (IPD) at the Delft University. He started as an intern at SLIMDESIGN, worked in San Francisco at Ammunition Group and collaborated with several start-ups before re-joining SLIMDESIGN again as Industrial Designer.
After graduating with honours in his autonomous mobility thesis for the University of A Coruña and Seat Automotive, Daniel joined the team ready to offer well-justified solutions through analysis, creativity, innovation and critical thinking. From brain-storming to high-end rendering, he is an all-terrain tool that makes the gears go fast and fluid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to cook paella.
Maike studies Industrial Design on the University of Wuppertal where she learned to focus on the function and use of products in her surroundings in order to improve them and bring them to life.

We are very happy to receive a lot of applications. It might be that our previous work is appealing and that we use an integrated development process or just because Amsterdam is a great place to live. In any case, the downside for the applicants is that we can select from the best. We like a technical background, good sketching and visualization skills, Solid Works and Adobe knowledge and a clean, minimalistic design philosophy.
Do you have a design related education, can you write well and are you active on social media? We are looking for a hands-on person that can improve our global online presence and manage the WP website. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail.
(also for freelance)
Gaining experience is key for students. We have two intern spots, every six months for technically orientated product designers. Please send your application to firstname.lastname@example.org. To help students we created this page with valuable information about our selection process and what we look for in a student.
We are on the waterfront next to Pakhuis de Zwijger.
