Nike has frequent marketing meetings where they present their new collections. Because the locations change the system needs to be mobile and easy to handle.<\/p>\n

Challenge<\/h2>\n

Nike invited several retail partners to pitch on the project and decided to also invite a product design firm. We explained that a pitch creates a sub-optimal development process. Finally, they agreed to work with us, so we could challenge the requirements in the brief.<\/p>\n

Approach<\/h2>\n

In the analysis and strategy phase, it became clear that logistics and merchandising flexibility were the most important topics to solve. These insights were totally different than the original brief and gave us a clear advantage to the competition. Also, the fact that we only design made that we could act in Nike’s best interest during the sourcing and final production.<\/p>\n

Result<\/h2>\n

We optimized the overall usability and logistics through a reduction in volume (frame and fabric backing), improved handling (dedicated flight cases), reduced set-up time (tool-less assembly), and increased flexibility (integrated graphics).
The first version was very successful (a 1 km wall was produced and used over a\u00a0period of 7 years). When Nike changed its store identity, Nike commissioned us to upgrade the system to fit the new store\u00a0design.<\/p>\n

Co-development<\/h2>\n

During the analysis with Nike, it became clear that the handling of the system was key. This meant reducing volume and flight cases that allow for efficient storage of the system. Additionally the system needed to fit in regular elevators and it should allow for tool-less, one-man assembly.<\/p>\n

Winning Pitch Proposal<\/h2>\n

In our proposal, we presented a frame system, backed with fabric. We calculated the savings created by reduced volume, weight, and set-up time.<\/p>\n
